Spencer Hawley has announced his candidacy for the House of Representatives for District 7.

The State of South Dakota has major decisions that are going to be made in the next couple of years that will have a dramatic effect on our citizens, students, the Brookings area, and SDSU. As a businessman for several years in the community and with my proven leadership qualities, I feel that I can have a positive impact in influencing these decisions.

It is extremely important that all sides lay aside partnership and work together to develop the programs and a budget that will most benefit our local businesses and the people of South Dakota.

The State of South Dakota and the Brookings Community have provided my family with an excellent quality of life and it is important that we are able to make this available for our future generations. This runs the gammit from maintaining and improving the business environment, a quality education for our children, and the opportunity to expand their education at the college level.

SDSU and Brookings have had a unique relationship, where they have worked together to improve the university and the community. This relationship needs to be continued and fostered even more.

Why I am Qualified

I raised a family in Brookings, have been a successful businessman for over 30 years in Brookings, had leadership training through my military experience, and state involvement in the GF&P Commission and state associations.
